CitySafe is a community-led campaign from Citizens UK aiming to make our streets safer.
It was set by Citizens UK’s member organisations in response to the murder of Jimmy Mizen in 2008. The organisations worked in collaboration to set up CitySafe Havens. These refuges offer people who are feeling threatened or in immediate danger a safe space and an opportunity to report crime. They aim to break down the communication barriers between police and communities and encourage communities to get together to tackle issues with gang violence. The campaign works with thousands of young people and adults in schools, colleges, charities, churches, mosques, synagogues and community groups. The idea also works to challenge the presumption that young are ‘part of the problem
There are currently over 600 CitySafe Havens across London. To find your nearest CitySafe Haven or find out more click here.
